Overview
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate, maintain and shift loads using a vehicle loading crane.
This unit applies to those working in site-based roles.
The work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work but this unit does not provide the licence. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements that may apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from relevant state jurisdictions prior to applying this unit.

Course Outline
Each course is structured to deliver essential skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience, including:
- Module 1: Prepare for vehicle loading crane operations
- Module 2: Operate vehicle loading crane in line with established requirements to complete work activity
- Module 3: Conduct housekeeping activities
Course Requirements
Pre-requisites:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to speak, understand and write in basic English
- Must have or obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
What to bring:
- 100 points of Identification – Originals, not copies.
- Enclosed footwear.
- Safety Gloves
- A hat, water bottle and sunscreen.
- Hi-vis shirts are recommended but not mandatory – we have hi-vis vests you can use on site.
What You’ll Achieve
Upon completing this course, you will:
- You will receive a RIIHAN307E – Operate a Vehicle Loading Crane (VLC) once you have been deemed competent, issued by PM SQUARED (RTO No. 41304).
